Katie Roche - Abbey Debut - 1936
Katie Roche debuted in the Abbey Theatre in 1936.
Generally well received the different reviews cast a light not just on the play but also on the reviewing publication.
'N' in 'The Leader' remarks that the play is a study of "a girl all heart and no head, who does not realise that living and loving go hand in hand with suffering" and "It is evident that a girl of her [Katie's] temperment needs a firm but sympathetic friend to guide her".
Granta Magazine meanwhile described the 'firm but sympathetic' Stan as "a selfish, unimaginative and rather inhuman man of middle age"
